Russian Committee of National and Non-Olympic Kinds of Sport (CNNKS)
 
Committee of National and Non-Olympic Kinds of Sport (CNNKS of Russia) was created in 1999 and united kinds of sport, which are not included into the Olympics. CNNKS is acting in cooperation with Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) and has official agreement with ROC about demarcation of fields of activity. (www.knnvs.ru in Russian only)
 
At present CNNKS unites and coordinates activity of more than 70 public organizations on non-Olympic kinds of sport. Number of members of CNNKS is permanently increasing.
 
A necessity of creating of CNNKS arises as result of analysis of development of national and non-Olympic kinds of sport, which as a rule don’t have state support.
 
The main CNNKS goal is: To support activity of sports public organizations, which are developing national and non-Olympic kinds of sport, and to coordinate their interaction.
 
Mikhail Tikhomirov (Vice President of the Russian Olympic Committee) was elected the Chairman of CNNKS.  Co-Chairmen of CNNKS:

• Pavel Popovich – twice Hero of the Soviet Union, pilot-cosmonaut of the USSR;
• Sergey Belyaev – President of the Federation of Sports Orientation of Russia;
• Anatoly Karpov – repeated World Champion on ñhess;
• Alexander Kuznetsov – President of foundation “Social Alternative”
